At Kairos Digital, we spend most of our days talking about marketing strategies and helping businesses grow. But there’s a bigger purpose behind our work. We want to use what we do every day to make a lasting impact, not just for our clients but for people who need help the most.
That’s why we’ve committed to funding 15 clean water wells in Northern Africa by the end of 2026. We are doing this in partnership with Scott Downing and his team, who have been been serving in Chad, doing this work, for the last 15 years.
More Than Just Clean Water
For most of us, turning on a faucet is automatic. In Chad, clean water isn’t guaranteed. Access often determines whether a community thrives or struggles to survive. Scott and his team spend half the year drilling wells during the dry season when the roads are passable and heavy equipment can reach remote villages. Last year, they drilled nine wells despite weather challenges, limited access, and rough terrain.
The impact goes far beyond drinking water. Clean wells reduce disease, support healthier families, and open the door to stronger communities. Scott explained that too many aid projects in Africa fail because the community has no sense of ownership. Wells break down, and no one steps in to repair them.
Scott’s team uses a different approach:
- Community buy-in: Villages contribute 10% of the cost and get written approval from their tribal sultan.
- Local management: Each community forms a water committee and sets small monthly fees to fund repairs.
- Training and sustainability: Local repairmen are trained so pumps can be fixed without waiting for outside help.

This isn’t charity for the sake of giving. It’s a model designed for dignity, responsibility, and lasting hope.
Building Trust Through Water
One of the most powerful outcomes of these wells is trust. In regions where outsiders are often met with suspicion, meeting a community’s most basic need—clean water—changes everything. It opens the door for friendships, reconciliation between tribes, and honest conversations about faith and hope.
For Scott and his team, water is the starting point for something much bigger.
Why Kairos Digital Cares
When we set the goal of funding 15 wells, it wasn’t to make ourselves look good. It was because we believe business can and should make a difference. Every proposal we send out includes this mission, not as a marketing angle but as a reminder to every potential client of our agency of why we exist and what we are rallying our team behind.
We’re a small agency, and some days the goal feels ambitious. But we’ve committed to it because the need is real, and because stepping out in faith is part of who we are.
Looking Ahead
Scott’s team is preparing for another drilling season this November. The wells that Scott and his team are drilling are hyper cost effective because of the lea nature of their team and because of the nature of the kind of soil they are drilling through. Because they don’t need to bring in additional equipment, they can put in a functioning pump for 1/3 of what it costs large NGOs to do the same kind of work.
Every project we take on at Kairos Digital helps move this mission forward. Each website, ad campaign, and strategy session brings us closer to 15 new wells, hundreds of families with clean water, and communities built for lasting change.
